The Korean peninsula has been besieged by propaganda and waste, but not by the expected cross-border onslaught. The military of South Korea declared on Wednesday that during the course of the night, more than 200 balloons containing a variety of goods—including bottles, outdated batteries, fertiliser, rubbish, and leaflets—were sent across the border by its nuclear-armed neighbour. Though sightings were recorded hundreds of kilometres south in South Gyeongsang, these balloons were mainly seen in the border regions of Gyeonggi and Gangwon.
